After Paul Bonhomme retired from the Red Bull Air Race as World Champion there were questions over what would happen to the rest of his team.
One of those questions has been answered by Kirby Chambliss, after he recently announced that engineering and aerodynamic professor Paulo Iscold has joined Team Chambliss for 2016.
Much like every member of Team Chambliss, Iscold lives and breathes aviation. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerias (UFMG) in his hometown, Belo Horizonte, Brazil and is now a renowned specialist in aircraft design. Students at UFMG know Paulo as a professor, where he teaches multiple courses on aircraft design and applied aerodynamics.
Team Chambliss are excited about Iscold joining their team, who is on board to help build on Chambliss' performance and race strategy from last season. "Paulo is already settling into his new position as team tactician. He has been diligently working alongside team technician, Jason Resop, preparing the raceplane for the 2016 Red Bull Air Race World Championship. When the race season begins, he will focus on data analysis and course optimisation," they said.
Chambliss spent many hours in 2015 improving the aerodynamics of his Edge 540 V3, and with Iscold now on board there is even more scope for the US pilot to push his limits and achieve his goal of becoming 2016 World Champion.
