When the torrential rain hit Budapest in July the Challenger Cup was cancelled. The race has been rescheduled to take place this Saturday at the Eurospeedway, Lausitz. This is to ensure all eight Challenger Class pilots were given the opportunity to race six times before seeing who will be invited to race at the season finale in Las Vegas.

Challenger pilots Francis Barros, Florian Bérger and Daniel Ryfa were all set to race in Budapest alongside returning pilot Luke Czepiela and new competitors Ben Murphy and Melanie Astles. The six pilots will now be given the chance to race and collect their Budapest points at Lausitzring on Saturday.
An official statement from the Race Committee said: "Due to the cancellation of the Challenger Cup in Budapest on 17th July, the race is rescheduled for Saturday 3rd September during the Red Bull Air Race in Lausitzring, Germany. This will ensure that all of the pilots have an equal opportunity to win points and progress to the Challenger Cup Final in Las Vegas on 15 - 16 October."
