With 120,000 eager Japanese motorsport fans visiting the Makuhari beach area this weekend to witness the country's first ever Red Bull Air Race, it's expected to be a highlight of the 2015 race calendar. We're here alongside Tokyo Bay and waiting for the rain to clear so Qualifying can commence.
Despite the grey skies the local fans are here in their droves and in good spirits as they prepare to watch the world's fastest motorsport in action.
To keep the dedicated fans entertained, traditional drummers are playing and we've even sold out of the official baseball caps... The queues to enter the race viewing areas began early this morning, with people keen to get a good spot to catch the action. Families, avid motorsports fans and flying fanatics are all here ready to see local hero Yoshi Muroya in the skies.
There is even a dedicated area for the Japanese pilot, with the most enthusiastic fans dressing up for the occasion. Even if the sky is dull at the moment, the local crowds are adding colour!
