With the Challenger Class Qualifying taking place at 14:40 (local) the final Free Practice session was the last chance the pilots had to find their lines before the racing starts. And it was American Kevin Coleman who came out on top.
Coleman was confident going into today knowing he had some lines he wanted to test and they paid off as he set a time of 58.044s in his run. He was second to fly in the track and would've heard Luke Czepiela's time of 58.744s and known what he had to do to beat it. He was 0.700s faster than the Polish pilot and pushed him into second place.
Kenny Chiang was third on the timesheet. He was back in the #1 Challenger raceplane and looked comfortable in the track. He was only 0.751s behind Coleman. Dario Costa was last to fly and his 59.385s run was enough for fourth spot.
Melanie Astles, who missed out on FP1 yesterday due to her SCO (safety vlimb out) after a pylon hit, found herself fifth on the timesheet. Her fastest time of 1:00.539, was almost 2.5s behind the leader and Patrick Davidson was unable to repeat his blistering run from yesterday – which is still the track record – and finds himself in sixth before Qualifying.
