Matt Hall and Michael Goulian will battle it out again in the Final 4. Mika Brageot is also through for the first time in his Red Bull Air Race career. Here's how heats 8-11 played out...
Brageot vs Bolton
Mika Brageot flew first into the track as the rain began to fall and set a competitive time of 57.835s. That time gave Bolton a lot of work to do. Bolton flew well, but Brageot had the energy in his plane and Bolton finished 1.289s behind the French pilot, putting Brageot through to the Final 4 for the first time.
Sonka vs Le Vot
After getting a pass through to the Round of 8 Sonka had to refocus and set a competitive time. He set a 58.200s run, which left a space for Le Vot to make it through to the Final 4. Le Vot flew cleanly and looked to be catching Sonka at one point, but he took a bit too long in his final VTM and lost his momentum and Sonka won the heat by 0.586s.
Murphy vs Goulian
Ben Murphy was hoping to knock out his second American. He was flying well but collected a penalty for climbing in the gate in Gate 7. He then made the same mistake at the same gate on the second lap. His final time of 1:02.264, was easy for Goulian to beat. Goulian made it difficult for himself by also collecting a penalty for the same mistake, but he was quick enough to make it into the Final 4 for the fourth time this season.
Ivanoff vs Hall
Ivanoff kept calm and cool in his run, but he was slow and could only manage to set a time of 1:00.249. Hall knew he could easily beat that time. Hall did what Hall does best and flew a 57.984s run, the second fastest time of the Round of 8 and he was through to the Final 4 again.
