McLeod masterful in the Round of 8

What a Round of 8! Here's how it went down

McLeod is through

What an amazing round we've just had. McLeod was fastest and looks good going into the Final 4. Here's what happened in heats 8-11

Heat 8
Muroya vs Sonka
Yoshihide Muroya couldn't have had a worse start to his Round of 8 run – he went through the Start Gate too fast and picked up a one second penalty. His final time was 1:08.414. By contrast, Sonka was slow in the Start Gate, but without that one second penalty he was able to book his seat in the Final 4, by finishing his run 0.463s quicker.

Heat 9
Kopfstein vs Chambliss
Petr Kopfstein flew another solid and smooth run to set a time of 1:08.452 for Chambliss to beat. Kirby Chambliss is in the form of his career and the man of the moment. Kirby showed why he is sitting at the top of the leader board by flying his run 0.617s quicker than Kopfstein and moving to the next round.

Heat 10
McLeod vs Dolderer
Pete McLeod went all out and set the fastest time of the day so far with a 1:07.230. It was a powerful display of flying and meant that the World Champion would have to leave it all out on the track if he was to get through. Dolderer was quick and was in fact faster at the first split time. However he lost his advantage after the first VTM and there was no coming back from there. He ended his day 1.230s slower than McLeod.

Heat 11
Brageot vs Hall
Mikael Brageot was up against the fastest pilot from the Round of 14. So he was going to have to work hard to beat him. Brageot held his nerve and set a time of 1:08.368, putting the heat on Matt Hall. Hall was looking good and in the green from the first split time. He was 0.290s ahead at the end of lap one and although he lost a bit of time, still beat his French rival to get through.
