Pilot’s journey showcases Austria by air

With Wiener Neustadt just around the corner Dario Costa, took one of the Challenger planes on a tour of the Alps

Costa in the Alps

The beauty of Austria was on display as Red Bull Air Race Challenger Class pilot Dario Costa flew across its alpine countryside on his way to Wiener Neustadt for the upcoming sixth stop of the season.

Costa's Edge 540 V2, the official raceplane of the Challenger Class, played with the clouds in the southern region of Carinthia before passing through the state of Salzburg, with its famed limestone Bischofsmütze ("bishop's hat") peak, icy Dachstein glacier and charming resort village of Obertauern.

On 15-16 September 2018, the Red Bull Air Race will return to its Austrian roots as the 14 international pilots of the World Championship race at Wiener Neustadt for the first time, while Costa will be part of the season's only double-header for the second competition category of the sport, as the Challenger Class vies in two races during the weekend.
