The race contenders in Chiba

How will this season’s top performers fair in Chiba?

Can Dolderer make it back-to-back wins?

In just two races of the 2016 season there has been five different pilots on the podium. As we get closer to Race Day in Chiba we look at the pilots that could take the win this weekend...

Matthias Dolderer
The German pilot is in the form of his Red Bull Air Race career. He is sitting eight points clear at the top of the standings and claimed his first win in Spielberg in April. Can he make it back-to-back wins in Chiba? You wouldn't bet against him.

Nicolas Ivanoff
After a fantastic race win in Abu Dhabi, Ivanoff was disappointed in Spielberg with a seventh place finish. In 2015 he finished fourth in Chiba. This year he has arrived with a new engine and his slimline canopy. He'll want maximum points this weekend.

Hannes Arch
After not collecting any points in Abu Dhabi, the Austrian returned to form and finished second in Spielberg – which is enough to see him sit third in the standings. Arch prefers to fly the water tracks and he'll relish the conditions if they're testing. If he's in the right frame of mind he could take the win on Sunday.

Pete McLeod
A seventh and a fourth in the opening two rounds has been enough so far for McLeod to be fourth in the Championship table. He often talks of his engine's performance and if the weather is hot, he could suffer, but you can never count the Canadian out.

Nigel Lamb
The British pilot is in his final season, and wants to go out on top. He showed his World Championship winning form in Spielberg and will hope that momentum will continue here in Chiba.

Matt Hall
Although struggling with back issues, you can never dismiss Hall. He was second here in 2015 and his team is confident that he will go one better this year. He'll also be looking to get his season back on track.

Yoshihide Muroya
Muroya is the local hero and will have that extra advantage of the crowd behind him. He holds the track record here in Chiba and will feel he is long over due his first Red Bull Air Race win.
