The five other Challengers racing in Cannes will be working hard to try and figure out how they will be able to beat Daniel Ryfa in this afternoon's Qualifying session after the Swede took the top spot with the fastest time of the race so far.
Ryfa broke the track record with a run time of 1:03.645, which no other Challenger could beat. Closest to Ryfa was Astles, who has been second in every session so far. This morning she crossed the Finish Gate 0.432s slower than Ryfa.
New pilots Dario Costa and Patrick Davidson finished third and fourth respectively, both setting impressive times for their second race. Costa picked up a one second penalty for exceeding the start limit, and without that he would've been the quickest pilot in the session.
Daniel Genevey was fifth and only 0.778s behind the leader – making it very close at the top with five of the six pilots all bunched together under a second apart.
Baptiste Vignes was sixth and had a tough run, finishing 1.784s off the pace, but will be ready for Qualifying.
