Sonka and Muroya dominate Round of 8

Yoshi through.

First and second in the World Championship are both through to the Final 4 taking this down to the wire. Here's what happened in the Round of 8...

Heat 8
Brageot v Muroya
Brageot flew cleanly but his time was slower than his Round of 14 time and going up against Muroya he would have wanted to be a bit quicker. His time of 1:07.126 wasn't going to be easy for the Japanese pilot. Muroya was electric in his heat and finished more than 2.5s faster than the French pilot to keep his title hopes alive.

Heat 9
Kopfstein v Dolderer
Kopfstein put the pressure on Dolderer by setting a time of 1:05.741 his flight was clean and smooth, and he would be pleased with the time. Dolderer, who won here last year, was smooth yet aggressive in his run - and the tactic worked perfectly, with him crossing the Finish Gate 1.492s faster than his rival.

Heat 10
Goulian v Velarde
Michael Goulian had a terrible start to his run, clipping the pylon at Gate 2. This gave him a final time of 1:08.006. This meant that Juan Velarde only had to fly smooth and clean to ensure he made it into the Final 4. The Spaniard was smooth and conservative in his flight. He played a tactical game and finished 1.931s ahead of Goulian.

Heat 11
Sonka v Hall
Sonka was able to put his bad run behind him in his Round of 8 flight and set a time of 1:04.995. Hall has revelled in the fact he's become known as the 'spoiler' this year and he would have wanted to do well here, but he hit a pylon at Gate 2 and then got another penalty for incorrect level flying and Sonka was through to the Final 4 with his World Championship hopes still intact.
