Britain's Paul Bonhomme won pole position for the Red Bull Air Race World Championship in Ascot with a crowd-pleasing victory in Qualifying on Saturday in front of an enthralled audience of 18,000 spectators at the world-famous horseracing venue, beating Australia's Matt Hall.
Bonhomme, the 2015 Red Bull Air Race World Championship leader, stopped the clock in a time of 1:06.023 to claim his third Qualifying victory this season in the world's fastest motorsport series to set himself up for Sunday's race. Bonhomme, who also won the first-ever Ascot race a year ago, took first in Qualifying in the season opener in Abu Dhabi and at the third stop in Chiba, Japan. He will fly against longstanding rival Hannes Arch, who had to sit out both runs today due to technical issues.
