Challenger Cup: the Spielberg six

A rundown of the pilots racing in the green heart of Austria

Melanie Astles will make her debut in Spielberg

The Challenger Cup always provides great excitement at the Red Bull Air Race World Championship, and the second round this weekend will be no different. Here's how the pilots line up for round two's racing:

Melanie Astles
Astles will become the first female pilot to race in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship on Sunday when she makes her debut. The five-time French Aerobatic Champion has a wealth of experience and will be the one to watch in Spielberg.

Francis Barros
Brazilian pilot Barros did not have a great season opener in Abu Dhabi and will be looking to make amends. In 2015 he improved with every race and will be looking for that first podium in Spielberg.

Florian Bergér
Bergér started the season with a third place finish and will be looking to improve on that result in Austria. His performances improved constantly in his debut season last year and he will be thinking of contending for the title at the end of the season.

Cristian Bolton
Despite this being Bolton's third season in the Challenger Cup he has never raced at Spielberg before. So even though he is well versed in the Challenger Cup he could find the difficult conditions a disadvantage. However you can never count the Chilean pilot out.

Kevin Coleman
Finishing in second place in his first ever race will have given Coleman a huge confidence boost. The American pilot is relishing his racing and will be hoping to go one better here in Austria.

Daniel Ryfa
Ryfa is the most experienced pilot here in Spielberg. This will be his third time flying the Austrian circuit and with his methodical approach to every race, he will be in the best position to find the fastest lines in the shortest amount of time.
