Czepiela makes his mark in Challenger Qualifying

The Polish pilot shows he’s ready for Race Day

Czepiela was strong in Qualifying

Luke Czepiela flew the perfect run at the Europseedway Lausitz, topping the timesheet in the Challenger Class Qualifying session.

Czepiela put down a time of 1:04.767, with Florian Bérger 0.669s behind in second place. Daniel Ryfa took the third spot despite picking up a one-second penalty for exceeding the start speed on his entrance into the track.
After his run Czepiela said: "The track is tight and super good – I haven't raced since Chiba [June], so I was a little rusty, but once I got hold of the feeling again, it was good progress. The key for me is to try and find a good line right from Gates 1 and 2 because this is one of those tracks where if you make a mistake, it catches up with you four gates later. It's not simple."

The two fastest pilots from Free Practice will want to put the Qualifying session behind them. Ben Murphy, who was quickest in both of yesterday's sessions could only manage a time of 1:09.155, more than four seconds off the pace. American pilot Kevin Coleman clipped the pylon at Gate 5 and collected a three-second penalty putting him down the order.

Melanie Astles was also unlucky as she picked up three two-second penalties for incorrect passing of an Air Gate which saw her final time come in at 1:13.925.

The EuroSpeedway round of the Challenger Cup takes place at 13:00 local time tomorrow, you can follow it HERE.
