Returning Czepiela tops Qualifying

A year’s break hasn’t slowed the Polish pilot

Czepiela pleased with his time

Luke Czepiela has topped the timesheet in Qualifying of the Challenger Cup in Abu Dhabi. After practice yesterday Czepiela was disappointed with his performance, but when it counted, he pulled out all the stops and posted a time of 1:07.241.

Daniel Ryfa claimed second spot in Qualifying and was only 0.107 behind Czepiela. Brazilian Francis Barros who is looking to be consistent this season flew well enough to see him place third, while new pilot Kevin Coleman was fourth. Coleman picked up a penalty for a pylon hit, but if he had avoided that he would've posted the fastest time in Qualifying.

Florian Bergér had a round he would like to forget and Ben Murphy, the second new pilot in the Challenger Cup to compete in Abu Dhabi was disqualified for a safety line infringement.

On Qualifying in the top spot Czepiela said: "I took the year off for personal development, but throughout that year my hunger for racing grew like hell! I'm super happy to be back and even more I'm happy that here at the first race, after a really bad day yesterday, I managed to pull it all off and win Qualifying today."
