Today was Matt Hall's, but all the talk was of the fact that first is racing against second at the season finale tomorrow. This could be one of the most exciting ends to a season. Here's what the pilots think...
"The VTM is the key and it will depend on what the judges let go and what they will not. I flew how I wanted to fly, but I stalled in the turn and that cost me time. If you want to win you have to beat everybody, so the Round of 14 will be fun."
"Our engine setting is still not right, we didn't get enough speed and we're struggling. If I want to be the World Champion I have to compete against him [Sonka], so why not do it in an early round. We're just going to go out and do it."
"Considering the last couple of days, Qualifying went quite well for me. For sure it was not the fastest out there but the times are improving and I'm consistent and clean. The biggest news is that Yoshi and Martin are facing each other in the Round of 14. It doesn't mean much, but it does mean that one of them could be eliminated early so that helps me in the points perspective and that's why I'm here – I'm not here to win a race, I'm here to win a championship. I'll be out there looking to fly fast, fly clean and we'll see how it shakes out."
"Qualifying didn't go as planned. I've been struggling the last couple of days in the track. We've been doing a few different things here and there trying to figure it out. We've heard that the weather will be crummy tomorrow – and we tend to do well in bad weather. With the wind coming from the north it's going to change the whole game. Today wasn't my best performance, but tomorrow's another day and we're not out of it by any means.
"We're figuring the raceplane out, and as we said all along, we would focus on developing in the first half of the season, putting everything together in the second half and then we would try to go for it in the last race. We're still learning, but I'm flying well and it seems to be working. I think we've got the speed to win a race now, and the confidence. I would not want to be in the position of those four pilots at the moment. Every time I've been in the thick of the World Championship, it's been two of us going for it. Four guys is hard work. And tomorrow will be a completely new day with the forecast."
"We're super happy – it worked. Second place is perfect, especially at this track which is super, super difficult. I thought we'd be at the front but maybe down in 6th-7th place, so this is perfect. We brushed up on the parts we wanted to and our lines got even better. We know that we can make it half a second better, but we didn't want to take the risk."
"I'm very happy with the result so far. Third in Qualifying is a good start. We've been improving since yesterday morning. We started with a lot of incorrect levels but slowly every time I fly I'm feeling a little bit more comfortable in the track. I'm happy."
"I'm not really satisfied but at least we know we have the pace. We know we're nearly there. At the first Qualifying we had the fourth fastest net time, without the penalty. In the second run I was third or fourth fastest as well – that's not bad. I lost some time in the Vertical Turning Manoeuvre and I have to rethink that one. And I hope the weather is good and we get to fly tomorrow. If we have different wind from today, I think it's going to be very exciting, because when we have a wind change you have to fly through the gates at a different angle and this will mix the whole field. We will see a lot of surprises."
"We can definitely speed up for tomorrow. It was an interesting day. The wind changed and it got a lot hotter out there. In my first Quali run I played it just a little too easy and then on the second one I went all out to eek that one second out of my time and got a penalty. We going to go back and look at our VTMs because we can win or lose a second there. We really want to win this race. I'll be disappointed if we're not on the podium – that is a goal and it's a realistic goal. With Yoshi and Martin going head to head it's anyone's game out there."
"It's a strange feeling. I feel good in the plane and the engine is working well, but I didn't find the right line in the VTM. I either pull too hard and stall or I pull not enough. The target is to increase the VTM and get it on the perfect line. Sometimes I'm only pulling 9G which is disappointing and I need to improve."
"Compared to FP3 my times are really bad. I was two seconds faster. I took some risks on the lines in FP3, but I didn't want to do that in Qualifying in case I was given a penalty, but I was maybe too conservative. I like this track, but it's close between a good line and a penalty."
"I'm still losing a lot of time in the VTMs. I think I lost at least one second in each one. The rest of the track went well and my lines are good. We will see tomorrow, the track will be completely different because we're expecting north west winds and today we had southerly winds. If it is different everyone will be resetting their lines."

"I'm not that satisfied about my Qualifying flight. I filled the first run with stupid mistakes. In the second run I was quite comfortable in the track following my path. I was not overwhelmed by the rhythm, the timing is not good but that's the way it is."
"The wind is complicated and picking up, making some of the gates quite tricky. At Gates 4 and 5 it's easy to hit a pylon. The first run wasn't as we expected, but the second run was strong. The forecast doesn't look too good and the wind looks like it might change 180 degrees, so it will be tough for everybody."
