With just two races remaining in the 2016 Red Bull Air Race World Championship, there are two pilots fighting it out to take the title: Matt Hall and Matthias Dolderer.
Dolderer has been leading the World Championship since he took his first career win back in April in Spielberg. But in recent races, Australian pilot Matt Hall has been flying strong and will be chasing the German pilot all the way to the final round in Las Vegas.
Both of these pilots joined the Red Bull Air Race as part of the illustrious 'class of '09' and have improved with every race. Both pilots are now in their fifth season and one of them will become World Champion. But as they go head-to-head in the American Rounds, here's how they line up:
Dolderer v Hall: Tale of the tape
|MATTHIAS DOLDERER||MATT HALL|
|PODIUM FINISH PERCENTAGE||26%||47%|
|2016 PYLON HITS||2||2|
Looking at the facts above, it will be a close run thing, as Matt Hall said after his win in Germany: "I've been in this situation before. Last year I was fighting for the World Championship and did well in the US races, so our strategy is to keep winning. If we go to Vegas and there's less than 15 points difference, then Matthias better have a clean race."
