Virtual World Championship is flying high

The 2018 series is underway and it's as exciting as the real thing

The 2018 Virtual World Championship kicked off in style last week. Whilst the pilots of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship were flying above the Abu Dhabi Corniche, gamers were doing exactly the same – virtually.

The first round of the 2018 Virtual World Championship on Red Bull Air Race – 2, the mobile game, was a huge success with more than a thousand virtual pilots taking part.

Austria's Werner Pany, the 2016 champion, was back to his best taking the race win in fine style with a time of 53.0801s. He beat Bella-Gracia-27 from Bulgaria in second place by 0.1162s.

Current Virtual World Champion, Manuel F was third and collected six championship points. Manuel F is the son of Werner Pany and the family are becoming the ones to beat in the VWC. PlayingPilot of Germany was fourth and Russia's RFO was fifth.

For 2018 race winners will receive Merchandise from the Red Bull Air Race shop including jackets, caps, hoodies and T-shirts. The overall winner will be crowned the 2018 Virtual World Champion and win two weekend passes for hospitality, including flights and accommodation, to one Red Bull Air Race of his/her choice together with a real G- Flight (for one person) during the chosen Red Bull Air Race event held in 2019.
