Red Bull Air Race pilot: 2014 (Challenger Class)
At just 25 years of age, Germany's Claudius Spiegel was the youngest member of the inaugural Red Bull Air Race Challenger Class in 2014, earning two podiums including a win at Gdynia, Poland. Previously, Spiegel, whose birthplace is Eichstätt, Germany (1989), had earned a position as first officer on the Airbus A320 for SWISS International Airlines as well as a reputation as one of Germany's best aerobatic pilots. After securing his aerobatic rating at Matthias Dolderer's flying school, Spiegel took fourth place in his very first German National Championships. Subsequently he would claim the national title in the Advanced Class before clinching Germany's Freestyle Aerobatic Championship in the Unlimited category.
