650,000 spectators lined the banks of the Danube back in 2009, when the last Red Bull Air Race World Championship race took place. With a much-awaited reappearance on the calendar this year, once again the city will be alive with race fever on 4-5 July.
Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Budapest is considered an important central European hub for business, culture and tourism. Its World Heritage Sites include the banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter, Andrássy Avenue and the Millennium Underground railway, the first on the European continent.
Split across the Danube, it's a city of two halves – Buda and Pest. The iconic backdrop of the neogothic Parliament building on the Pest side of the river will once again give fans a stunning panoramic view of the action. On the Buda side of the city, you'll find the Statue of Liberty, on top of Gellért Hill, along with the Citadel.
Budapest attracts over 20 million visitors a year, making it one of the top destinations in Europe and is regularly featured in the Top 10 list of World's Best Cities.
