Chiang conquers track record in FP3
It was the Hong Kong-based pilot's third run and after two penalty littered runs saved his best for last. Closest to Chiang was Florian Bergér, racing for the first time since Budapest in June. Bergér was second into the track and set a time of 1:09.714, which was going to be the track record until Chiang shaved 0.043s off his time, knocking the German into second.
Home-race hero Kevin Coleman was third with a time of 1:10.505, just 0.834s behind Chiang. 2018 Challenger entrants Patrick Davidson and Dario Costa, racing for the first time at a speedway track, were fourth and fifth on the timesheet with Davidson setting a time just 0.903s behind the leader and Costa 1.729s off the top.
Daniel Genevey and Baptiste Vignes were both unable to set penalty-free times, which saw them sixth and seventh in the standings. Genevey collected two seconds for an incorrect level passing in the gate and Vignes had four seconds added to his time for two incorrect levels at Gate 4 and Gate 11.
The Challengers enter the racetrack again at 14:45 local time for Qualifying. Catch all the action HERE.
