McLeod Stuns Rivals In FP3
Pete McLeod pulled out all the stops in FP3 this afternoon and blasted his way through the track to set an unbeatable time of 56.092s.
The Canadian, known for his aggressive flying, flew the perfect run and found himself 0.197s ahead of Juan Velarde – who for the third time in a row has found himself second on the timesheet.
Championship hopeful Yoshihide Muroya was third with a time of 56.409s and Martin Sonka was just behind, 0.344s off the lead. Both pilots were green in the split times, but McLeod better maintained the energy in his raceplane and the third VTM to ensure his top spot.
French pilot François Le Vot was fifth, with compatriot Mika Brageot just below. Matt Hall, another pilot looking to take the title, was in seventh with a time of 57.076s putting the top seven pilots all within a second of each other.
Michael Goulian, who is still in with a fighting chance of being crowned World Champion, was in ninth. Ben Murphy, who is in the same situation, was in 11th. For either pilot to become World Champion they will need to win Qualifying this afternoon and hope Sonka finishes out of the top three.
There was also good news for Cristian Bolton, whose team fixed his technical issue overnight enabling him to fly. Due to the lack of training time however, he could only find himself bottom of the timesheet.
This afternoon’s Qualifying starts at 15:00 local time – you can watch all the action right here.
