Top Pilots Fly Track Check Over Zamárdi

Cristian Bolton and Matthias Dolderer get an early sighting of Lake Balaton

Less than 24 hours before Friday’s Free Practice for this weekend’s Red Bull Air Race stop at Lake Balaton, Hungary, two of the World Championship’s 14 elite pilots took a flight over Zamárdi, the resort destination that will host the aerial showdown. Chile’s Cristian Bolton and 2016 Red Bull Air Race World Champion Matthias Dolderer of Germany flew their Edge 540 raceplanes above the city region, which is famed for its sunny shoreline, popular music festivals and lush hillside vineyards, but has never before hosted a Red Bull Air Race. That statistic will change on Saturday and Sunday, as spectators on Zamárdi’s public beach watch the raceplanes fly through the pylons set up on the vast lake known as the Hungarian Sea.
